Pure Storage: Certification Track Overview - Start Your Certification Journey now

[ NOTE: machine translation with the help of DeepL translator without additional proofreading and spell checking ]

With so many certifications available in the IT market, it's quite a challenge to keep track of who offers what exams, and how. I recently came across an article on the topic of Microsoft certifications and was quite taken aback by how many Azure-only tracks there are alone. We don't need to talk ... Microsoft, with its broad product line, probably doesn't have any other way to consolidate this particularly. VMware is not much different ... Data Center Virtualization, Network Virtualization, Cloud, Digital Workspace and and and. For an outsider this doesn't really make it easy, how can he assign presented certifications to skills?

Since we prefer compact visualizations nowadays, I have prepared an overview that will introduce you to Pure Storage's certifications within a few minutes.

For Pure Storage I can already say - there are currently 9/10 (depending on how you look at it) certifications - it won't be that complicated! Essentially, these also differ between products:

  • FlashArray

  • FlashBlade

and the Services:

  • Administration

  • Support

  • Architect

  • Implementation

I expect an expansion (or specializations) around the products in the near future (pure guess):

  • Cloud Block Store (CBS)

  • Portworx (there are certifications here, but not yet officially from Pure Storage)

  • possibly FlashRecover (or also integrated with FlashBlade)

Pure - also I - recommend to take the exams, depending on the experience to the manufacturer, spread over the years. With the entry level "Associate" can be started after 3 months. The Professional exams should be aimed at from 1-2 years. To pass the exams, already the Associate exams require deep knowledge about Pure Storage and its products and the ecosystems/integrations. Let me tell you: the exams are definitely not given to you for free.

Generally all exams have to be taken in an "Examslocal" test center (also like AWS, Adobe) under supervision (remote or on-site) and have to be renewed after 2 years. In Germany, especially in the public sector, these are sometimes even required and are taken into account when awarding contracts. Each exam costs $200.

Also included in the overview is general information about exam preparation and registration.
